Week 43: Insect

This was based on a 2-inch insect pin by Karyn Kozak that I found a photograph of in the book 400 Polymer Clay Designs.

I wasn’t quite successful but it made for a funky, colourful insect.

Materials I used:

Staedtler 2H pencil
Van Gogh watercolours
Faber-Castell Polychromos coloured pencils

At first glance (thinking it was made of fabric), I thought “cat toy!” The bright colors are wonderful. 🙂 You are really catching up in double time!

    • I’ve got one more to catch up on–my arm is killing me though which is why I generally can’t sketch every day. However, we are forging on toward 2016 so I can’t keep getting behind like this. On to Nutcracker today, which I hope to finish.

Polymer clay canes and a few other things in this bug, which is why it caught my eye–kind of neat what people create. Do you remember that old game with the Cootie bug? I never had one but friends of mine did. When I finished this it rememded me of that game, although the original piece of jewellery I drew from was not silly looking at all.
